Telluride Ski Resort Offers Wind Energy SkiGreen Program to Resort Guests
Telluride Ski Resort now invites guests to join them in the fight against global warming with each purchase of SkiGreen Green Tags
TELLURIDE, CO (Jan. 17, 2007) – Telluride Ski Resort announced today that it will partner with Bonneville Environmental Foundation to sell Green-e certified Green Tags to resort guests who wish to participate in offsetting his or her travel-related carbon emissions to and from the resort. Guests can purchase a portion of a Green Tag with each lift pass for $2 and 100% of the proceeds support new wind energy entering the power grid. Green Tags will be available at all ticket outlets beginning Wen. Jan. 24, 2007.
“The Green Tag program gives our guests an opportunity to contribute to renewable energy,” said Jeff Proteau, senior vice president of resort operations. “We believe it is a good step toward providing awareness and providing a mechanism to contribute to alternative energy initiatives.”
SkiGreen is a program of the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of supporting the development of clean, sustainable and domestic renewable energy across North America. Each $2 SkiGreen Mini-Green Tag represents 100 kilowatt-hours of renewable generation and is the equivalent of approximately 150 miles driven. Participants in the program will receive SkiGreen stickers for his or her helmet or gear, and a coupon for a Clif Bar.
“Telluride Ski Resort’s leadership in environmental programs such as SkiGreen funds new renewable energy on the nation’s power grids and educates the public about green power options,” said Patrick Nye, Director of Sales for BEF and the SkiGreen program. RESORT is playing a key role in building awareness and transforming our nation’s energy system. |
