Telluride Ski Resort Receives National Ski Area Association Awards

Marketing and Environmental Campaigns Receive Top Honors

TELLURIDE, June 1, 2006 – The Telluride Ski Resort received two awards at the National Ski Area Association’s annual conference. On May 23, 2006 in Marco Island, Florida, the NSAA recognized Telluride with two top honors for ‘Best Overall Marketing’ and the ‘Silver Eagle Environmental’ awards.
The ‘Best Overall Marketing’ award was based on the resort’s new 2005/2006 branding and strategic marketing campaign. Over 30 national ski resorts competed for the accolades and five NSAA appointed judges reviewed print, electronic, and interactive marketing and advertising strategies, considering both creative and promotional elements.
“It’s an honor to have this type of recognition and validation from the ski industry of our new branding and marketing message—defining Telluride as ‘Rugged, Refined, and Real’,” said Ken Stone, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Telluride Ski Resort.
Telluride also won the ‘Silver Eagle, Fish & Wildlife Habitat Protection’ award. In cooperation with community partners, the resort created the San Juan Fens Partnership, allowing for the continual study and protection of Fen-type wetlands in the San Juan Mountains and beyond. Telluride is providing staff time and equipment to aid in the monitoring, research and educational efforts of the fen protection program.
